camping sites

looking for camping sites anywhere from long lake up to lake placid. not interested in paid camping sites where it is crowded. want sites that are not far from road, where you can drive up friday night and pitch a tent. really dont want to sleep in car if i dont have to. i am just trying to cut down on driving hours. it is tough to drive 4 hours, get out of car and hike 9-12 hours then back to car to drive 4 hours more. what doyou people do?

Campsites

There are several legal campsites along the road leading to the summer Coreys trailhead. Starting just past the bridge (and the gate that gets closed in the winter) there are several marked camping areas just off the road)
