Trail Conditions: Lots of deep snow, two or more feet at higher elevations, with little or no melting up top. Blow downs and snow-bent trees on all trails, passable but sometimes obscuring trail. Bare bootable snow on Pemi/bike trail from Lafayette Campground to Tram. Kinsman Ridge broken and well-packed on lower half, less so on upper half, with some confusion between east peak and summit. Not counting my show shoeing, Hi-Cannon to Lonesome Lake Trail is unbroken.

Special Equipment: Snow shoes and poles.

Comments: This makes for a great loop. The snow filled trees, cloud bank over Franconia Ridge, and bluest blue sky made for a gorgeous hike. Hi-Cannon was extremely difficult, even with snow shoes. Another solo hiker Jackie joined me for the descent, and with boots postholed a foot or more. From campground back to campground, a little over six hours.
