For some reason I can't reply to the other Carter - Moriah Post. However, that trail you followed up to Mt Surprise was a group of four of us from Saturday they 12th.
It took us almost 2.5 hours to get to Mt Surprise and we had a time schedule we had to keep so we turned around after getting this far.
It was tough going. It took us less than 1:10 to get back down, but 2:30 to get up.
