Date of Hike: 6/13

Trail Conditions: very muddy and boggy down low on both trails. The bugs were out in full force. Maybe one or 2 blowdowns - no biggie. The slabs going up Brook were a little wet in places, but very manageable.

Special Equipment Required: deet, bug net, deet

Comments: Saturday was a great day to be out. The forecast was pretty iffy all day, but the views up top were unreal. A lot of cloud action with spots of sunshine made for a dramatic lunch up top. Crowds weren't too bad up there. Brook and Liberty trails were basically crowd free.

NOTE: We did run into one woman coming down Brook about 1 mile or so into the trail. She said she thought the trail might be washed out because she lost it at a stream crossing. My guess is she lost the trail well before and when she finally found it, panicked to get out. The first 1/2 mile of Brook is not marked that well, so be sure to squint to see what's left of the yellow blazes. I've done this hike a few times - decided to march on and was rewarded.
