Looking for a shorter hike, decided to redline the East Pond Trail from the Kanc (Rt. 112) to the height-of-land.

Trail Conditions: 2-4" of dry, new, powdery snow, over a minimal base

Equipment: snowshoes; microspikes for the crossing of Pine Brook; there was just enough snow to warrant snowshoes (to set a nice trail)... but if the trail sets overnight, light traction would be sufficient

Water Crossing: the water was pretty low, and while there was snow of the rocks, there was no ice on the rocks; all of us crossed the brook twice, with no incident (except for my dog, Skipper, who slipped once :)

Comments: we had the other side of the East Pond Trail from a former adventure on Scar Ridge; the trail today was lovely, moderate / easy grades, following an old logging path.
