Date of Hike: Sunday, August 16th

Trails: Ethan Pond Trail, Thoreau Falls Trail, bushwhack, Thoreau Falls Trail, Wilderness Trail, Cedar Brook Trail, Hancock Notch Trail, Sawyer River Trail

Trail Conditions: Ethan Pond Trail is in great shape. Thoreau Falls Trail is in good shape, a few very minor blowdown step overs along the way, trail easy to follow. Wilderness Trail in good shape. Cedar Brook Trail is in decent shape until approaching the height of land and then has muddy stretches to the Hancock Notch Trail junction. Hancock Notch Trail past the height of land is very overgrown in spots and muddy, wet, and narrow in general until reaching the big washed out water crossing of the Sawyer River. There are some spots that have flagging to help lead the way, if you pay attention you should not lose the trail. Sawyer River Trail in good shape. All water crossings throughout the day were easily rock hopped.

Comments: Great hike exploring the Pemi with Whitney. We did a small bushwhack to check out the plane crash memorial on the west side of the North Fork and New Camp 22. We also checked out other old camp clearings along the trail on our traverse. Thoreau Falls Trail is one of my favorites, if you haven't been out there check it out! :) Report / Pictures
