Conditions - The road was "plowed" and was nicely frozen snow & ice after 40 degree temps & rain yesterday. Microspikes worked perfectly until steep slab below upper stream crossing. Kicked steps just below normal path as it was frozen and steep. On descent followed stream bed once I reached the upper crossing. Followed brook for about 15 min, then angled up to trail. Much easier than following the trail on ascent. Frozen snow allowed some good butt sliding once the steam was crossed again on descent.
Special Equipment - full crampons would have been helpful for slab section (1/4 mile). Poles, microspikes, snowshoes.
Comments - great view from tower (see previous post) - Twins especially. When following stream bed I angled upwards soon after passing a buttress on the north side of steam. It may be possible to follow brook all the way to the point where the trail crossing it the first time.
