Went and rode a few laps of Lake Side Trail, Hickory Knob State Park in McCormick SC. Trail is a 7.5 mile loop with most of it along the shores of Lake Thurman, the largest man made lake on the east coast. It is over 40 miles long with a few fingers that go back 5-20 miles off the main channel. Best part is that over 90% is off limits to any development. the remaining is mostly state, county and Corp. of Eng. parks, campgrounds etc. Not many private houses and those are set back. The southern parts are only a quick 10 minutes from my house.
