How to get out Pine Pitch

Just got back from a weekend trip and noticed I got pine pitch on one of my favorite jackets. Anyone have some tricks to get it out with out ruining the fabric?

I've seen Mineral Spirits (which is a solvent that can be purchased where golf clubs are re-gripped, if you can't find it elsewhere) and nail polish remover recommended, but you might want to test the 2 on another piece of similar material for color retention and actual effectiveness.

Lestoil

I keep Lestoil with the laundry stuff. It works on oils, grease, stains, etc.

Put the garment in the freezer. It'll make the sap rigid enough to chip off the surface. If any remains, treat as suggested above. Nail polish remover also works.

At least I know it gets klister wax out of clothes without harming the color or the fabric. Rub it in, scrub and then rinse. It's water miscible so whatever is left on the fabric afterwards will wash out when you wash the whole garment, which I recommend as the last step.
