Jefferson Notch Rd.

Planning a traverse of Jefferson, Adams & Madison soon and I'm considering a car spot at Caps Ridge and Valley Way. Anyone know about how long a drive it is from Appalachia to Caps Ridge trailhead via Jefferson Notch Rd from Rt. 2? Any idea if the northern entrance (Rt 2) to Jefferson Notch Rd is typically in good shape? I've only accessed Jefferson Notch Rd via Base Rd in the past.

It's about 7-8 miles. The northern section of the JN road is generally a little rougher than the southern section, but my Nissan Sentra handled it fine last year.

You didn't mention when you planning for, so just be aware that Jerfferson Notch road is still closed and may be for a while based on a report in this thread: (page 3)

EDIT - The WMNF Road Status now shows Jerfferson Notch road as being Open.
