conditions - trails mostly snow free. Some deep snow for about the last half mile before reaching timberline. Lower third could be avoided by walking on the side of trail. Upper two-thirds was hard enough to walk on. Above timberline largely snow free. Some snow (a few inches) still left from snow earlier in the week.
equipment - poles, I carried snowshoes but never wore them. In fact, I left them at the junction of the Gulfside Tr. I used micros for the snow covered section on ascent and again on descent. Georg barebooted the whole climb more quickly than I was moving.
other - summit temp 50 degrees, little wind with good views. Met Erica doing another traverse coming down Jefferson. A half-dozen skiers left the cog parking lot for the Great Gulf.
