Trails were free of any blow-downs but were ankle-deep with leaves making for tricky footing everywhere but on the lower woods road sections. There was a dusting of snow at about 3000 ft but no ice .
Poles were essential for staying upright in the slippery leaves on the downhills. There were a few wet boggy sections well hidden under the leaves.
We started on the north [ Palenville ] side about 9:30 and returned before dark . Had no real problem bushwacking between the Long Path to the snowmobile trail and then to the summit. I think there is just under 3000 ft of elevation gain coming from the north .
