The original plan was up Reel brook trail and down Mt. Kinsman trail.

Reel brook trail conditions:

Pretty dry, until you pass under power lines.
Many doable, but, difficult stream crossings.

Kinsman ridge trail was a mess to Eliza brook shelter.
Rotten snow, mud, streams running down the trail, ect.
I can't tell you how many times, I switched from boots to snowshoes.
The snowshoes got a good workout on dry land, in hopes that there might be more snow around the corner. I hand carried the shoes a lot on this section, because of the ever changing conditions.

We arrived at Eliza brook shelter around 1 pm.
The Eliza brook, which is somewhat narrow, was very angry! ( probably due to the heat wave we've been having )

We searched up and down the stream for a safe place to cross for about 30 minutes. ( looking for that big tree to shimmy across ) No such luck...
Some places you could of rock-hopped, but very risky.
In a survival situation we could have done it. But it wasn't and we didn't want to make it into one. So we bailed...

Equipment:
Snowshoes, poles
