I was dx with high cholesterol in my 30's and was put on zocor. Slowly over time the doseage went up. I heard about the increased risk of getting diabetes and switched over to fish oil, and stopped going to the doctor. Unfortunately I ended up with my mother's bad genes instead of my 91 year old fathers good genes. My brother and sister also avoid doctor's visits and take fish oil, so I guess we're all by-passes waiting to happen since we all stick our head in the sand. Even my vegan 30 year old niece was dx with high cholesterol and was placed on a statin. she is skinny and healthy. I feel statins are overprescribed. Great threa I think....
