Moosilauke via Beaver Brook
Date of Hike: 6-5-10
Trail Conditions: Water crossings at the beginning posed no difficulties. Slick going over wet rocks for the first mile on the ascent. Once beyond the shelter the trail was relatively dry. Considering the downpour early this morning, trail conditions were pretty darn good.
Special Equipment Required: Poles, as always, were useful.
Comments: Almost didn’t hike today because of the early morning downpours and threat of lightning. But we improvised and overcame with a hike up Beaver Brook late in the day. The summit was enshrouded in dark clouds with winds gusting around 15 mph and temps in the high 50s. We were lucky to have sidestepped the rain and lightning bolts. We even saw the sun appear during our descent. Saw about 4 other people on Beaver Brook and about 6 people hanging out on the summit. Bugs were out in force…..relentless in the parking lot when we were changing.
