Trail conditions: wet sticky snow 2-4 inches down below..started to hit ice flows around 3000 feet which were tricky under the snow. Very bony conditions in places and a fair amount of ice in others. higher up the snow deepened and there was less ice. Carriage road had -6-8 inches new with some deeper drifts

Equipment: barebooted for a bit as micros balled up. Micros on for awhile as we hit pockets of ice and then came to spots where the micros were sliding so switched to crampons which made for much easier and quicker footing. Not enough snow for snowshoes on Glencliff Trail..very bony in most places..there are a couple of 100 yards on Carriage Road where they would be useful..now that Glencliff broken out the icy spots are more evident and micros probably adequate for most

Comments: good taste of winter today...all the branches covered on ascent and snowing/sleeting above 4000 feet. Once above treeline ..visibility lowered to cairn to cairn and the 25 or so wind packed quite a bite with sleet and ice pellets..perfect..thanks valerie for a good day
