Almost hiked Moriah but glad we (Zak & Ginger) stuck with our first plan. Long hike but worth the effort. We saw two other groups today (4 total) on Signal Ridge and the col. Also saw 2 snowmobilers on the road on the walk out.

Date of hike 2-8-12

Trails hiked Sawyer River Road, Signal Ridge Trail

Trail conditions As in Ed's report on 2/6, conditions were great today. Sawyer River Road well-groomed by snowmobilers - easy walk. Signal Ridge Trail is packed out to summit with a couple of inches of drifted snow on the ridge and through the col to the summit but easily done with Microspikes with no punching through. Water crossings were fine with low water and good snow bridges.

Weather conditions Single digits to start but warmed up when we reached Signal Ridge. Crystal clear skies and very little wind. Spectacular views!

Equipment Microspikes
