Trail Conditions: If not for rocks and bog bridges, the beginning would be a muddy mess, but thankfully those trail aids are present. The trail is in great shape otherwise, and it even improved as the day wore on! There was an AMC Special Trail Crew on-site cleaning out all the water bars below treeline and removing one massive blowdown. Thanks guys! Michael Blair should be pleased since he's the adopter for that trail.
Special Equipment Used: None.
Comments: Hiked this one with Steff and we had an excellent day. A simple out and back for us, sort of like a picnic. Terrific views... autumn is in full swing NOW!
Other - Road Caution: Coming from North Conway I took Mt Clinton Rd over the Cog Rd and onto Jefferson Notch Rd. At some point along the Mt Clinton Rd, before the Edmand's Path trailhead, there is a rock sticking up through the asphalt, mid-road. I noticed it because it looks like someone hit it hard with their road-hugging car and it punctured their oil pan or something. The leak thereafter was obvious. So, in other words, watch for this is you lack ground clearance and happen to be headed up that way.
