The perfect day for this.
After the snow, I waited until mid-afternoon, hoping that one snowmobile would break the trail to allow a quick ski up, which is just what I found. Beautiful cruising up on sun-dappled road, past snow-laden spruces and frosted birches to the cloud-shrouded upper mountain. Walked the trail from the end of the road to the summit, where there was a brisk west wind whipping the clouds over the icy rocks. Skiing down was pure delight, in the (few more) snowmobile tracks for speed, venturing (frequently) into the powder on the edge when timidity took over.
Winter is wonderful.
