Decided to go up Lions head and down Tuckerman Ravine. Beautiful day, no ice. Some patches of snow. No traction needed. Winds were light, maybe 20kts. Temps were around 40. Though with the calm winds and bright sunshine, it felt like it was 70. Though I keep the polar fleece. Didn't want to get a chill when the wind blew. Best part is we had an undercast below us. Anything below 5k was covered up. The exceptions were up to the north and the shoulder where tuckerman ravine starts. So we never had to deal with hiking in the clouds. Overall a 10+ day for hiking. We were going to Carter Dome but, after a seeing the lower clouds. We stopped in the pinkham visitor center, checked the wx, chatted with some of the staff about the trail conditions, and chose Washington instead. Turn out to be a good move, Carter was in and out of the clouds.
