Trail Conditions Lake Road is icy for about 1/2 mile, then could probably be skied. Ascended via Mount Colvin Trail (along Gill Brook) and Elk Pass Trail. Sketchy snow to start, donned snowshoes after about 1/2 mile on trail, for traction. Snow was soft-packed, so snowshoes were comfortable. After Colvin Junction, our party of three broke trail through 1-5 inches of fresh snow. After Nippletop summit, headed to Dial via Leach Trail (of course). One person passed us, and broke the trail, still through 1-5 inches. After Bear Den, no more new snow. Sketchy, semi-icy in spots on lower part of Leach Trail, but snowshoes provided adequate traction.

Equipment Snowshoes with good traction.
