Still missing one of the planks over the little dam so we rock hopped. Rocks were slippery on all three crossings, which were low so we didn’t bother with the bushwhack to the left (looked messy). Trails dry except for the usual muddy spots by the bog bridges. Many old blowdowns from Middle to South Weeks, most with well worn paths around them.

Special equipment needed. Bug spray (this trail is buggy).

The area just before the ascent to Middle is confusing. A large log is lying on the trail with an arrow carved on top and just beyond that a very well worn trail is blocked by branches placed in the path. Here is where we should have taken a hard right (over a few old blowdowns) to have continued on the trail but frankly it didn’t look like a trail from our viewpoint. We instead blew by the blocking branches to a fine trail - that fizzled out further up. We retraced our steps to the arrow log to find that the trail turned sharp right - upward and through the brush.

Someone had placed two moose femurs (?) on a stump just off the path. Very artistic.... or creepy, couldn't decide.
