Trail Conditions: Fresh loose packed snow on a hard base. 4 inches or so on Lincoln Woods Trail..maybe 6-8 up a little higher and a foot or so with drifts on the ridge. Upper water crossings bridged solidly..some of the smaller brooks still open

Equipment: we used snowshoes the majority of the day and it was fun to have them on..On descent some switched to spikes which seemed to work ok

Comments: crisp and cold day though we were pleased to have very little wind at all and calm on the ridge. Followed a solo hiker we never met up with out Black Pond bushwack at around 1900 feet which had some ups and downs but avoided wet spots and dumped us out up aways on Lincoln Brook Trail. Pleased to find the upper crossings there now solidly bridged. Other hiker headed towards the slide while we used Brutus up and down hitting familiar places along the way Cynthia and Val did a great job breaking out up the roads through the drainage then we cut across a bit steeply for awhile and connected to the Owls Head herd path right on track. Still a bit of a climb from there though consolidated abit from other hiker's snowshoes. Very cold so we tagged and turned. Made very nice time getting back to Lincoln Woods and were to the cars by dusk.. Great day out with Valerie, Cynthia and Ali
