Date of Hike: 11/30/13

Trail Conditions: A few inches of packed snow over ice. In many case, sheets of ice/frozen waterfalls. Quite cold 10-15 degrees but no wind.

Special Equipment Required:

Poles very helpful. Microspikes or other traction essential--perfect conditions for light traction. I did see two people putting on full crampons, but I think that may have been cumbersome. Some some unhappy barebooters. Very slippery.

Usual cold weather clothes.

Comments: Optional - Gorgeous clear blue skies and the usual winter wonderland scenes at the top with all the the snow/rime covered small trees. Quite spectacular views over to Mt Washington. Not too many people out on this trail, although the lodge looked quite full.
