This is a section of the M-S greenway I have been waiting to do for years. Was gonna do it last week, but the weather wasn't cooperative. When I saw those heavy fronts and the big drop in temp predicted for Wednesday, I put in for the time off and made the day out of it.
18 miles. From Pillsbury -> 5 summers tr -> MS greenway all the way to Sunapee, then double back, passed by the 5 summers tr left, and walked down to the bear pond trail, then out to the park.
Saw no people!
It was in the 40s-50s with a wind: NO BUGS!!
That is a beautiful section of wilderness without the crowds.
Could see Mt. Wash from Lucias's Lookout, the Franconia Range, etc. From the west side, well into VT. Very, very clear today.
Mt. Sunapee has a small swath of snow left, should make June given the cool temps.
What a pissah day to hike!
