Trails: 19 Mile Brook, Carter Dome, Carter Moriah, North Carter, and Imp Trails, with a woods road shortcut to Camp Dodge and a half-mile road walk along Route 16.
Conditions: Trails mostly in pretty good shape. Carter Dome and North Carter Trails could use a bit of brushing out in places. Limited water for dogs above 3,500 feet.
Equipment: Nothing special. Poles can ease the knees on the descent.
Comments: We detoured to North Carter for the views from its touted ledges. We found the viewpoint nice enough; but not as open as some of the others we'd already been to along the ridge to the south.
Thanks to Bryan for the advice on the easy-to-find Camp Dodge woods road (about a tenth of a mile past the stream crossing as you descend Imp Trail south leg). This little shortcut reduces the road walk considerably.
