Sawteeth, Pyramid and Gothics 01-05-08

Alfred Weld trail to col and then Sawteeth was nicely broken. Trail to Pyramid had not been broken. Jim Goodwin #24 would be happy to know that the trail remains as steep as it was when he first established this route. Waist deep drifts to about 4300 ft. Above 4300 to Pyramid and Gothics summit the snow was increasingly wind packed providing better support. Trail markers in col between the two were just barely visible above the snow. Virtually no ice on Gothics so snowshoes with crampons were sufficient. Gusting wind had created a six foot high drift along the Range Trail north towards Armstrong. Trail down to Beaver Meadow is well broken. Sure footing required at the cliffs ( near ladders). A misplaced step here could be your last. Plenty of graceful glassaiding followed with copious amounts of buttsliding available on the Beaver Meadow Trail.

So many mountains, too little time
