Trail Conditions: Doan Trail is lightly used and lightly maintained: there are some damp spots and a few blowdowns. It's well-blazed in blue, though, and there's a beacon for you at every questionable junction. The AT is a gentle, well-trod boulevard down the ridge north of the mountain.

Special Equipment Required: Some are likely to say you'll need a machete, but they're exaggerating.


Comments: Optional - Park at the bridge on Quinntown Rd., a couple miles in from Rt. 25A. Walk across the bridge and take the right fork; the left fork fizzles out quickly in what's left of Quinntown (not much!). This is a great morning or afternoon loop walk (9 mi., 2600'), much like Cube via he AT and Cross Rivendell Trail (8mi., 2500'). Combine the two for a really great day with some wonderful views...
