Date of Hike: Dec 30, 2010

Trail Conditions: Snow amounts varied from 6-12” on the approach to 20-30” up on BC Tr., especially after Bond. Mixed ice/rock on Bondcliff and over the ridge. The usual amount of blow-down, not a problem and the stream crossings were easy. The Bondcliff Trail is now pretty much a highway from the Wilderness Tr. junction, all the way out to the summit of W. Bond.

Snowshoes and poles were helpful. Microspikes over the col, unless you want to trash your snowshoes/crampons.

The winter Bonds have been a tough nut to crack for me. After being turned back on 3 previous attempts, the 4th time was a charm. I decided to take advantage of a beautiful sunny, mild day with low winds. Started and finished the hike with headlamps. Hardest point in the hike for me was finding the W. Bond spur unbroken.
