Planning on doing the Santas, Allen and Redfield from the Upper Works trailheads. While I plan on camping at Skylight Brook for Allen, and Bradley Pond for the Santas, etc. I would like a "recovery" (read "shower", et al) night at a campground in the area in between, or before I head home or move on to do other peaks.

I have been all over Rte 73 on the "other side", but I know nothing of the area around the three trailheads at Upper Works.

Anyone know of such campgrounds in the immediate area (within ten miles or so?) Thanks.

Try Newcomb

There are a couple of campgrounds in Newcomb, which is not too far away from the Upper Works trailhead. Although I have driven through them on a look-see, I have not stayed in them, but have stayed in a B & B in Newcomb, so I know it's not too far away.

Harris Lake is a NYS DEC campground located very close to Newcomb. Tentsites, a lake, showers. About 30-40 minutes from trailhead for the Santononis.
