for the anal retentive - which bump is West Bond - exactly?!

the trail to West Bond from Mt Bond goes over a "North East" bump, and on to a "South West bump" approximately 0.2 miles further.

Yes, i did quite a few searches of VFTT first (various combinations of West, Bond, Map, coordinates, exact, etc.).

finally, after comparing a few clues, I believe the coordinates are:
(WGS84)
44.154667, -71.543500
+44° 9' 16.80", -71° 32' 36.60"

one source was Mike P.'s spreadsheet ("several options") with a distance of 1 mile "West Bond and return"...

other sources:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Bond

can i get confirmation on this?

also - i recall once seeing a Google map with "pins" in it, which some VFTT-er had linked to, with the NEHH. anyone know where that is?

thanks!

You Can't Miss it!

Just go until you cant go any further w/o falling into the abyss - W. Bond is a little island in the sky...

The FTFC rule is (I believe) that the latest USGS map determines the peak. (see Topozone) That means the NE bump (the first one) wins since it has a higher closed contour (4520' vs. 4480' closed contour). In case of ties, the one with the spot elevation wins (see e.g. VFTT discussion on Owl's Head and Scar Ridge).

Thank you! that means I'm done!

Marchowes - yes, I like that map muchly! thanks for sharing it!

and to Papa Bear and all my other VFTT acquaintences whom i've not yet met :

I is all done! New Hampshire 4000 footers in Winter, Jan 17 2004 - Jan 21 2008!

I was on the AMC backpack over the Twins and Bonds this past weekend, led by Ellen Cullen, Judy Dillman, co-led by Chris Pollari, attended by Ken Lavigne, Larry Takiff, Laura Mattei, and Brian Glenn, with some ground support by Mohamed, no less. I lucked out to have that crew, eh?!

Twins were Saturday, and on Sunday the Bonds - West, Bond, and Cliff were #46, 47 and 48!

and all i paid for it was a little bit of frostbite on right toes... doh! :(
saw a doc yesterday, and have a follow up with a vascular surgeon tomorow.

i'm told it should heal on its own, but keep it clean, dry, elevated, etc.

one contributing factor: I punched through the ice on the little river. used every dry sock and plastic bag available. eventually everything gets damp.

Brian ended up with both feet in the river. wonder how he's doing? ;)

It was an AMC trip and they kept going? Can't wait to see what ME says about that :)

Why, the real summit is the one with the big cairn on it!

Oh, wait ... ;)

Congratulations on your finish! W00t!
