Wildcats. 18 march 2013
Conditions/Equipment:
Went up D Pk from Ski area, after getting $10 trail pass, via Stray Cat and Polecat trails.Trail to D Pk from chairlift was very hardpacked from much trafffic. when I returned I came down the alternate which had much less traffic and was much better.
Wildcat Ridge Trail is well packed out all the way from E Pk to A Pk. The trail is somewhat narrow, I think most people have been in spikes. I wore snowshoes, which was fine for the traction, but somewhat cumbersome at times over the lumpy trail. Snowshoes were not needed for floatation, just traction.
Comments:
Day started out cold, but warmed up nicely with minimal wind.
Beautiful views of Mt Washington with blue sky going up. thin clouds had come in by afternoon, early harbinger of tonight's storm.
