Alan Via was going to be at the Winter Clove Inn for a presentation of his new book The Catskill 67 and Maddy and I did not want to miss it. We got there early Sat.and met Mikie who is familiar with the area. He took us on a scenic hike around the Winter Clove resort where we checked out the many water falls in the area.Everyone really enjoyed the slide show presentation that night, outstanding photography and narration by Alan. The Winter Clove area has many hiking trails in the area, some go to waterfalls, and some will take you up on the escarpment where you could go as far as the Blackheads if you want.We just wanted to wander for once around the lower areas and check out waterfalls. We really enjoyed staying overnight there,no phone or T.V. in the room, and no clock. That was a nice change. We were greeted there on Sun. morning by a friendly horse, and a dog that seemed to have a smile on his face. Here are a few pictures, the resort said that it would be ok to post thishttps://picasaweb.google.com/lh/sredir?uname=lostclove&target=ALBUM&id=5737277919513425521&authkey=Gv1sRgCLSrsaKsj4m55QE&feat=emailA big thanks to the Rip Van Winkle hiking club for putting it all together.
