Wonderful blue-sky outing yesterday in & out to Zealand which gave Georg two peaks he needed for this Winter 48 (for this winter), gave Dave the one peak he needed here for his 48-in-11, and allowed Ned to check off one more for his 48-by-12.

Although we set out with the option of following Big Earl's Wednesday traverse over the Bonds (we had left cars at LW), it was becoming clear as we approached the Zealand summit that the wind/temp conditions were not going to be conducive to an enjoyable day on the Bonds. The trails were all in good shape and we wore microspikes from the Hut to Zealand. It was minus 7 at Zealand and the wind in the trees was fierce. On the way back Georg went (rapidly!) out over Hale to get one more winter peak and met up with Dave and Ned (they dallied by taking in the views at Zeacliff and lunching at the hut) at the end of Zealand Rd. Great winter day!
