Zion National Park Trip - Looking for Advice

Thank you everyone so much for the advice! I decided to go for it and book a walk-in tent site at Watchman. With only 3 1/2 days there, we definitely don't have enough time to do everything, but will make sure to check out Observation Point, Angels Landing, the Narrows (if conditions allow), and...

Not to copy Peakbagr's post, but similar request: my girlfriend and I are taking a trip to Zion National Park in mid-September, and would love any and all advice regarding recommended hikes, where to camp, weather that time of year, etc. Regarding hikes, the Narrows and Angels Landing seem...

    It's Ice

Welp, judging by the trail conditions page, it looks to be a little icy right now up in the Whites. I was planning to head out with two buddies tomorrow (Monday), equipped with one set of crampons, a pair of msr snowshoes, and a pair of atlas snowshoes. I was looking to tackle Cannon or Liberty...

    Training for the Long Trail

my fault. thanks for the clarification. so about a month long, that's a nice sized thru hike. if someone was to do the LT in two segments, would it be safe to say that the lower half would be boring?? or does it have its own rewards??

okay so michelle finished in 25 days, lumberzac is looking to do it in 10. so how long should i assume it would take me, cause that's quite a big difference. i would categorize myself as a medium-fast hiker. thanks.

    Hancock's via Arrow Slide 2/11/06

I ascended that Osceola slide as a summer hike. Hands down one of my most favorite hikes. It definitely makes it fun when the slide is 2 miles long.

what is the sickest thing you ever saw on the trail??

I agree with Sleeping Bear, nothing is more sick than campers. Try a 6 hour drive back to camp in a van after a five-day trip to Baxter State Park. STIIIIINKY!! Oh yeah, and it's always a bonus when one of them gets car-sick easily.

    First group outing leading advise

That all sounds good. Just keep the people warm and dry, and they'll seriously consider getting into the hobby. The colder they are, the more likely they'll be miserable and never look back at hiking again.

    north face insulated boots

Anyone had any experience with these boots? http://www.thenorthface.com/opencms/opencms/tnf/gear.jsp?site=NA&model=AYV4 Will these cut the the mustard in terms of winter hiking? What about winter overnights? I feel like plastic boots might be too hardcore for me, but I need something that keeps...
