June 23, 2012: Always wanted to explore the Brown Ash Swamp; just read Jazzbo's after I took a ride!!!
Anyway, started out from Welch-Dickey Trailhead. I hiked a lot of the uphill, northbound, as I sized up the downhill: looked pretty good!!! I was pretty excited to get to ride back on this fun singletrack!!!! Got to the logging road about 1.7 miles from the trailhead, explored the logging road, and turned around. The downhill was almost as fun as it gets in terms of singletrack. About 95% rideable except for a couple streams near the top. Totally AWESOME!!! Total STOKE!!!!
Northbound, hit this blowdown almost immediately. Not an easy hop-over!!!!
Super-fun singletrack:
Pretty swamp:
The wavy edge of one of the ponds:
Dang! That's a big tree!!!!
And, lots of critter evidence (moose footprint in the mud):
I will come back and ride this trail again - SO MUCH FUN!!!!
