Since I was a little ambivalent on my weekend plans, unsure of what peak, if any, that I would end this winter hiking season on, and yet really wanting to get out, I was pretty much a sucker for the opportunity of sucking down a microbrew on the summit of any peak in NH
or ME and so...in honor this winter hiking season...it was only too obvious (to me) that the suggestion of a Wildcat "D" summit and subsequent 'Polecat' descent via plastic sled, fit the bill! - all this talk of butt sliding not withstanding...I was jonesing for a good sled run...
We started at Pinkham Notch, 9:30am up the AT, bare booting btw, all the way to Wildcat D. arrived around 4 hours or so later...
Happy to report that sledding to the bottom of this 'bunny run' was greeted with laughter and enthusiasm from the dozens of skiers that shared the slopes with us...it was a smooth and exciting ride to say the least.
Look forward to next winter...
