We just received a book titled The View from Vermont: Tourism and the Making of an American Rural Landscape. Perusing the book I happened upon a photo and read the adjoining article. So here is the question; who did the press dub The Three Musketeers in 1927, and why?

Hmm - I think they were the first 3 women to hike the Long Trail - Kathleen Norris, Hilda Kurth, and Katherine Robbins.

Yep. In the photo they are all wearing those high logging boots, which must have been a pain to lace up.
