The perfect Mt. Chocorua day, and the first time we hiked this trail. It was in the 70s most of the way up, and the 60s on the summit.
Snow still covered most of the trail (60-70% over its length). I bare-booted it, but my 3 friends used snowshoes. The snow supported me, with an occasional breakthrough. The snow near the summit was softer and easy to kick into. The immediate summit was dry.
I would pack snowshoes, just in case.
