Peabody Brook Trail to Giant Falls (& Beyond) + Off-Trail Bushwhacks: 26-Oct-2008
Trail Conditions:
The Peabody Brook Trail is in good condition up to the ladder (about 1.5 miles from the trailhead). For the section of trail between the ladder and the first brook crossing, there are some areas that could use some brushing. I cannot report on trail conditions beyond the first brook crossing. The water level was very high from the rain the night before. It made crossing the brook more of a challenge than I cared to undertake. Rather than attempt the crossing, I headed off-trail for a short open-woods bushwhack to Bald Cap Peak (2795’ elev) which is less than a half mile off the trail.
