Howdy!
Does anyone know if Rockwell Road or Notch Road are open to the public yet?
Looking fwd to checking out some new pavement!

Called the visitors center last week they said end of May.
Hiked there Friday, the pavement looks good.

I would ASSume that the State is going to have some kind of official "Grand Re-Opening" of it's new road, but I haven't heard anything yet. There was a crew led by the DCR clearing trails this past weekend, so the Rockwell Road to the south must be passable. Not sure about Notch Road to the north though.

As of today, the Notch Road, from North Adams, was filled with branches. The road is not safely passable for vehicles. The road itself looks beautiful, but there looks to be some peripheral work yet to be done, mostly removing all of the erosion barriers along the road.

An article in today's (Saturday) Berkshire Eagle states the opening will be on May 22. Some kind of grand reopening will be held, details to follow soon.

Has anyone recently taken their bike up from either end? Are they letting bikers on the road at all ? I know as of last week they were still cleaning up from the ice storm.

It was pleasant this past fall without all the non-hikers

Good question Cragway...looking to do the same thing. I just posted a question about Notch Road / West Mountain Road. Are those roads paved as well?

Does anyone know if the road has had any re-routes. I used to do a road ride up the north side every summer when I would go out there. I hope it will still be the same challenge.
