Galehead Mountain, South Twin Mountain, North Twin Mountain via Gale River Trail, Frost Trail, Twinway, North Twin Spur
Date of Hike: Monday, May 25, 2009
Trail Conditions: Mostly dry trail, patchy snow and ice
Special Equipment Required: None
Comments:
Gale River Trail was snow free and mostly dry. First water crossing required stepping on wet rock, other two no problem (little creeks no problem either). No blowdowns.
Garfield Ridge Trail - a few tiny patches of snow (avoidable), otherwise mostly dry. No blowdowns.
Frost Trail to Galehead Mountain - mostly dry. No blowdowns.
Twinway to South Twin - mostly dry, a few tiny patches of snow/ice (avoidable). One blowdown down low.
North Twin Spur - lower 200 or so vertical feet into col from South Twin features patchy snow, but it's been well travelled, so barebooting is no problem. No monorail. From col to North Twin, snow free and mostly dry. No blowdowns.
