Trail Conditions: Water crossings were not a problem, all easily rock-hopped. A few blowdowns along the route but all were stepovers or duck-unders. Nothing needing removal. One muddy stretch along carrigain notch trail, but even this was not very wet.
Special Equipment Required: Nothing in particular. Bugs were not an issue.
Comments: I've wanted to get back to the Desolation Trail for a long time and had not done it without deep snow. Coming up the "back" of Carrigain this way is a beatiful route along a great treadway for the most part. The upper part of Desolation is a good work out though. Nice view from on top - you really feel high up on this mountain. Good day to be out.
