The US Forest Service issued a Food Storage order for the Green Mountain National Forest about a month ago that requires food to be stored in vehicles, suspended 12 ft above the ground and at least 6 ft horizontal from any object, or use of bear box or bear canisters. I only learned through a Green Mountain Club story this week.

The 12 ft and 6 ft suspending requirement could be difficult to meet.
