Fish and Game does not do official dog rescues. Long ago I was mobilized to do a rescue of an inured hiker in the Great Gulf. It turned out to be a Newfoundland in a similar situation that the owners had reported as human in hopes that someone would rescue it. We were on the summit and the dog was down at Spaulding lake. We did not rescue the dog but some volunteers went the next day. One of them sprained her back and was out of work an in need of therapy for her injury since it was not an official rescue the workmans comp coverage for official rescues did not apply.
