Non hikes and sightseeing in Whites

I'll be heading "back east" this weekend with my girlfriend. We're going to my friend's wedding and we're going to make a detour through the whites. Not sure how long we'll be there. Could be as much as a day and a half. I don't think we'll be up for a long hike. I'd maybe like to do...

Arcteryx Hercules (powershield o2) vs Beyondclothing cold fusion (schoeller wb400)

That's a very thorough review. Thanks so much! When you bought your's, did they give you 3 choices each for snugness and length? In the measurements part, you put in your measurements, then you can select technical, standard, or "for layering" for snugness and then you can select "ends at top...

Arcteryx Hercules (powershield o2) vs Beyondclothing cold fusion (schoeller wb400)

I know softshells get talked about a lot, but I've got a question that pertains to a new model with a new material - polartec powershield O2. I'm in the market for a softshell and I've narrowed it down to two options. The arcteryx hercules hoody or the beyondclothing cold fusion. I've tried...

Where I come from we don't have volcanoes like that

Oooooh, there it is! Oh, wait. That's not Rainier. That's Adams. Nice consolation prize. Around the corner Something comes into view Could it be? Yes. I think so. Definitely. Most definitely. The winding road back. It's all downhill from here.

Where I come from we don't have volcanoes like that

The hiking in Washington is so choice. I highly recommend it if you have the means. It was a beautiful day and I didn't have the schedule flexibility for a big hike. I thought about going to the beach, but with the summit of Rainier being clear and the alpine flora in bloom, I set out to get...

Kinda dry and bland, but pretty good for you. It's what you put into it that counts.

Mt. Madison rescue: why so much anger??

    a) some people are just negative, and like inexperienced hikers, they are ignorant of what they're doing wrong b) as we become wiser, we become forgetful... of the fact that at one time we weren't so wise

    Webshots extremely slow???

Photobucket is very smooth. I think Flickr does the same thing, but it gives you the tags so you can post pics on message board threads.

Hillary rips climbers who left dying man

Was that group of 40 in separate smaller groups? It's common for humans to not help out if they know there's others out there capable of helping out. This is from "The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell. Example: Someone hears a scream for help from someone in a large apartment building...

Running With the Devil - May 20, 2006

    Not that I'm an expert...

A few years ago a dust-devil hit Lebanon, ME. It ripped a roof off a store and pretty much destroyed the place.

PSA: exped foam air mats for $31 (only today)

On http://www.steepandcheap.com till supplies last. This looks the same as the big agnes air core I have, which I'm quite happy with. edit: it appears to be heavier, but that also means better insulation I assume (mine isn't good below freezing) Right now, it looks like there's quite a few...
