WOW, I am impressed of you guys! That's not a bad thing to turn around. We've turned around many times because of various conditions. Better safe than sorry. That's awesome that your daughter knows when to say when and turn around to live to hike another day. Sounds like you have a very smart...

    Hiking close to home

Yes, this is true, that's why on second thought we'd opt for a beach walk instead, which now may be on Sunday instead. She's a collie/shepard mix and her back is totally black.

Lots of options here, thanks. Not sure what we'll end up doing. We also have a dog, so what ever we end up doing will be with Suzy(our doggie) too. She loves to come even though she's 13 yrs old.

That's awesome that she can still hike like that! What an inspiration to us all in hopes that we stay as fit to be able to hike at that age!:) Very cool. Happy Birthday to your Mom.

That's too funny, we had the same experience coming down from Mt. Isolation. Here's a picture of the bird that was following us:

    Why???

WOW! Glad that you came across that! Imagine if you didn't? Then what would have happened. Yes, I do believe it was fate too, but doesn't that make you feel good that you did your good deed for the day? Some things happen for a reason.

Interesting....I like some of these suggestions too. These will be good when I need a hike fix and don't want to travel for two hours.

Hordes and Helicopters on Mt. Monadnock

Wow, better you than me. No, seriously, I'm glad that there are people like you out there helping the "hikers" that need assistance. But dealing with some of them, man I don't think I'd have the patience.
