Here are the Bitly links to the pictures by Spaderman of Crocker-Redington Attempt, http://bit.ly/1fDvDb3 & the Saddleback-The Horn Success, http://bit.ly/1kbN6aR. As The Great Pumpkin noted, the trails were not broken out for the most part. What saved us from tossing in the towel on The Horn...
As promised by RoyBoy, here is the link to pictures I took. http://bit.ly/Z1UUm8. Not as many as usual but the group ones came out nice. My thanks to Pete for taking those pictures.
Big congrats to RoyBoy for completing the All Seasons 48! Now on to the Winter 48!:D
Looks like you did great for a solo. Can't beat the weather this weekend. As for the gear comment, go with what you're comfortable & necessary for an emergency. Better to have & not need it then the other option. Congrats to you.
Good report Great Pumpkin! I'm adding some links to pictures. First is the West Bigelow/Avery Peaks: http://bit.ly/12NfkDm. The second is Saddleback (too nasty a day to take many pix): http://bit.ly/134Q3EE.

Finishing the 48!
Nice trip report & even better story! Congratulations on completing the 48. Winter is truly the best time to hike with all that it has to offer.:D
Nothing like waiting until the last full day of winter to complete your 48 but Friday was about as good of a day I as I could ask to bag Jefferson & Adams to complete #47 & #48 for the winter list. I wish I could say that I did it in one season like Silverfox but 9 years is still OK in my book...
Ssw48
Mark - Glad to hear that you made it and I'm glad I got to be part of your success on the Twinns/Galehead hike. That's some serious hiking. Congrats!:D
Park a car at Lowe's Garage & started hike from Marshfield Station with The Great Pumpkin & Mad Dog as my companions for the day. The weather proved to be an excellent. Sunscreen was passed around.
Trail Conditions: Jewell Tr. was well packed out & easily followed to treeline. The last...
Trail Conditions: The Rocky Branch Tr. up to Engine Hill is well consolidated. The bushwack is easy to find as the consolidated trail for Rocky Branch stops, takes an immediate right toward the bushwack. The bushwack is well traveled & easily followed all the way to the campsites near Davis...
Box in the woods
It's for the beaver dam. In order to maintain some water flow downstream, they build these boxes. They are set up on existing dams. The box extends far enough upstream that the beaver cannot "dam it" with sticks thus allowing water to flow thru the box so the downstream...
Trail Conditions: The Sawyer River Road is well packed down. Fortunately someone the previous day had done the Carrigain hike as Signal Ridge Trail was broken out. The trail is well defined all the way to the top. The last ramp up from Signal Ridge to the tower is bushwacked & for the most...
