Southwest Twin - words of Wisdom solicited.

Hey now, I'm thinking Southwest Twin bushwhack later this week. I have read the very few posts in here that decribe this, but not a lot of into. Some of done it from the west (Franc Brook) some from the Twinway. My plan was to hit it from the Twinway. Will it be hand-to-hand combat with the...

Dry River suspension bridge - functional or not?

I was in the DRWA earlier this summer and the suspension bridge was out, with a big, bad, threatening sign saying if you go across it, you could go to jail and shell out $5,000 fine. Does anyone know if this is opened or is it still in the broken state? thanks.

    Dry River Crossings

Thinnking of doing a loop from 302 dry river trail, over Eisenhower, over Pierce, etc then back down the dry river trail. The $64,000 question is: will the river crossings be passable? Or, given the piles of rain, impossible? thanks!

This is a section of the M-S greenway I have been waiting to do for years. Was gonna do it last week, but the weather wasn't cooperative. When I saw those heavy fronts and the big drop in temp predicted for Wednesday, I put in for the time off and made the day out of it. 18 miles. From...

Hi, I'm heading up to Maine very shortly for 4 nights/5 days of fun in the woods and was interested in hearing ideas, experiences, etc. of others with respect to camping out. I do not want to stay at one of those organized campgrounds, i.e., Catherdral Pines(no matter how cutting-edge it is)...

    Moraine Retreads - Where?

Hi - I have some older-style Moraine hiking boots - this is before they discovered the design flaw at the toe (i.e., no rubber piece covering the whole toe, which my newer ones have). Anyway, they are beat, but all in all, the boot is in good shape save for the sole/toe area. I'd like to...

Hi - thinking of doing up Stratton Mtn this week from the south as a loop via Stratton Pond (i.e., N up LT, down via stratton pond trail, walk 1 mi or so on the road to the car). My LT book says the Arlington-West Wardsboro Rd. is plowed up to the LT. Is this still true? My book is pushing 10...
