Running With the Devil - May 20, 2006

super trip report Jamie. Great hike with great company and even greater steaks. :) Gerry, our affable Devil's Tombstone caretaker is STILL my hero. ;) one gear note: my Merrell Overdrive trailrunners were great as I had absolutely no foot discomfort the entire hike, but the rocks really did...

    Alone with Demons

Great trip report Hanna! I'm sorry you didn't get to see a Yeti though. I promise we'll see one the next time we hike together. :D

Pennsy Finishes the 48 during hiking extravaganza

Jamie - great trip report and pics. I only wish we had a pic of you taking the Nestea plunge in the Sabbaday. That would have been a classic. :D and thanks for organizing yet another "Bring in Spring" trip. Just hiking in the Whites is great, but meeting a bunch of cool VFTT'ers and finsihing...

    barnes field fiesta

Thanks Chip. My oldest photo albums were shot with slides (Velvia) or film (Fuji Reala) using a Nikon F100. In the middle, I went digital SLR and used a Nikon D1H. That gear is kinda heavy so my more recent albums are shot with digi point and shoots, a Nikon E5700 and a small Fuji E550. Funny...

    barnes field fiesta

I'm mostly a VFTT lurker, so it was great fun meeting a bunch of y'all this weekend. Thanks for the excellent hospitality and the good times around the campfire. The typical NH weather (rain, snow, sleet, high winds) played some havoc with Artex and myself, but we managed to hike the...

    Bring in Spring - April 14-19, 2006

"Itineray of hikes is TBD, but I can assure you, they won't be lightweight." Nothing like a good buttkicking from Artex to bring in Spring. :D You can most likely count me in for at least 3-4 days.

    Mt Greylock Overnighter: Snowtastic!

a 3 hour tour.............. Skeetah is Klutz? Woops, I thought Yammy was poking fun at Ox. Now I feel real silly. :o

    Mt Greylock Overnighter: Snowtastic!

Excellent trip report Yam, and your pics came out great, especially the misty lake cottage scene. I knew that would make a great pic. Put some lighting in the cottage and you could almost call it a Kinkade. Despite the weather and lack of views, this was a fun fun trip, and Yam did a great job...

    Baxter State Park, Aug. 19-22

Great trip report, and sweet pics, Artex, Yammy and EarthNsky. It was a great trip despite the weather and I had a blast. One can never get enough of Katahdin, but the North Brother hike was especially nice. My trip pics

Garcia vs BearVault; which is better?

Except for the ADK Eastern High Peaks area and a trip to Alaska, I've been using an Ursack year round for the last few years. I've never had a problem, and it's been tied to trees in the Catskills, Whites, Maine, other ADK areas, Pa, and all over the AT. For places that require canisters, I took...

The Quest Ends - 48 Completed on Carrigain

Awesome! I'm proud of you, my friend. Congrats on a super achievement, and congrats to Miss Yam on her 3rd peak and Lumberzac on his very first trip to NH. Also, thanks for cooking the great grub Friday night. That was an awesome meal. Loved the pics and the trip report, but....... you might...

Acadia National Park, 6-27 to 6-28

Great pics! I'm jealous. I love the trails in Acadia and now I want to go back. It figures that you would find something steep to hike. The West Face is a darn good buttkicker for that first mile. I did it in the rain so I put the coffee cup down.

    Alaska Range and Denali - Chapters 6 & 7

Thanks for the excellent feedback, KZ. I'm sure I'll have questions as I get closer to making that big decision, but you sure helped push me in the right direction. I hope Artex is reading this. I know he's interested in Alaska and I'd really like to go back. Is a Denali trip in your future?

    Alaska Range and Denali - Chapters 6 & 7

Excellent! Like I said on the other thread, great read and great pics. Some questions if you don't mind: Which course did you take, the 6 day mountaineering course or the advanced mountaineering course? If it was the 6 day, did you feel it was enough or did you feel like you yearned for the 12...
